Battle of Britain

Tragic news has been reported for our fellow allied country killing more than 23,000 people, majority of them were civilians. On August 24, London had been bombed by German planes. The German campaign referred to as “Luffwaffe” had addressed an attack on demolishing the harbors and facilities in England. The RAF decided they needed to retaliate since they've been provoked to do so, and have fought back by bombing the German city of Berlin. This attack on Berlin put Hitler to rage and decided to to continue to bomb British cities. Hitler had reoccurring attack known as “Blitz”. London civilians are said to be completely horrified and living in fear due to the situation. Until, September 1940the RAF had shot down German Bomber. Surprisingly the Germans may have had more aircraft though the RAF was able to defeat them because they have a quite advanced radar system. Canadians are proud of British as they used effective aircraft to achieve defeat. Furthermore German leader, Hitler ultimately surrendered and no had no more plans to invade Britain. Though citizens feels sympathetic towards their loses. Hoping for a good outcome to this war.

Operation Barbarossa

It was on June 22, 1941 that Adolf Hitler discharged "Operation Barbarossa", which broke the non-agression pact that was signed on 1939 between Hitler and Joseph Stalin. Hitler yearned for a new German Empire for the longest time and as a result, he wanted nothing more than to quell the Soviet Union in hopes of having the potency to attain raw materials, agricultural land, and labour for the German army. Just as how the U.S. were unprepared for the attack by the Japanese of Pearl Harbour, the Soviet Unions were the same in this particular situation. Soviet winters were extremely cold and in contrast, Germans weren't fully and properly equipped. Therefore they lost their advantage. Since that was a failure, in 1942, Germany casted another aggressive in the Soviet Union. Now, they were focusing more on the south which laid the rich oil fields. Although the Germans made it as far as Stalingrad, they were put to a standstill due to another uncompromising winter. In the end, they eventually held a cessation in early 1943. However, they did not surrender with a positive end. The Germans ended up succumbing more than 300 000 casualties. Subsequently, the army of the Soviet Union acquired the territory they had lost. Thereafter Soviets ended up appending to the war on the Allies' side.

Pearl Harbour

On 1941, Japan was prepared to invade American and European colonies in Southeast Asia. They wanted to gain control of resources that would benefit their country, such as oil, rubber, and tin. Even though the U.S. didn't really have much to do with the war at the time, Japan knew that if they wanted to invade those colonies, it would somehow involve the United States. And it did, because on December 7 of the same year, Japanese planes bombed the U.S. naval base in Pearl Harbour on Hawaii. As a result of this attack, 2400 people were murdered. The Japanese didn't feel as though that was enough as they went on and bombed the U.S. territory of the Phillipines. Indeed it is certain that the Americans were in utter distress by the abrupt barrage by the Japanese. The United States definitely reciprocated as they delcared war on Japan on December 8 after they joined the Allies. Of course, Japan did not fight alone. They too, had their own Allies, which were Germany and Italy who also then declared war on the United States. Because of the attack done by Japan on Pearl Harbour, the outcome was much more austere and domineering. Some may argue that if the war in the Pacific never occured then the whole world possibly would have never been at war.

Canadians at Hong Kong

Japanese have just got to an extreme level of absurdity. Every citizen od Canada is filled with frustration as they question why in the world were Canadian troops whom were inexperienced transported to Hong Kong. The Canadian soldiers being not as skilled as the japanese knowingly were sent disregarding the risk. Approximately 1700 Canadian prisoners of wars are being faced with crucial environments and being treated as slaves, thats a person father or son. More than 260 have been declared dead, and citizens fear that their will be more.Latest news states the Japanese had bombed Hong Kong aware of that it is a British colony they did it deliberately. Courageous Canadian soldiers endured 18 days of brutal fighting. This has been result of “Black Christmas” the defeat of the Japanese in Hong Kong. The occurrence of this event leave Canadian citizens upset and hoping for vengeance which leaves Japanese Canadian citizens in fear of anti-Japanese sentiment in Canada. Citizens already feel the tension between the two cultures.

Battle of Atlantic

It's 1941. Allies are reluctant on accomplishing victory in the Battle of Atlantic. Canadians have tried there supreme in contribution to this battle. Unfortunately Canadian ships providing military materials and a reserve of food item were being interfered while in the middle transportation by “wolf packs” which are German U-boats. The vicious German have been trying to starve soldiers by cutting off the supplying routes. Although Germans may have seemed victorious in this Battle by ambushing Canadian ships the tide have turned. A British citizen had reported that British had detonated the German naval code. This event had allowed Allies to be able to foot mark every German submarine movement. Another reason as to why the tables have turned is on account of RCN. RCN has been provided an excelling equipment contribution. A women association has also been developed known as the “WRENS” women were working as wireless operators,coders,driver, and operational plotters. Hundreds of Canadian ships carrying good have been demolished though in response “corvettes” small warships to assist in protecting the convoys. Conquest is seen to be right under the nose of Allies since the expansion of new technologies and strategies have been presented to the war. Though that is only a speculation not a guaranteed act of overthrowing.

Battle of Dieppe

August 19th 1942
Out of nearly 5000 Canadian soldiers, the Dieppe Raid resulted in the lose of 907 soldiers, 600 wounded and another 2000 have been taken into prison. Citizens had once thought that Allies had become more stronger and advanced but that perspective has been turned. Due to an act of senselessness Canada has suffered an enormous number of deaths in the raid referred to as a “trial run”. It was said that that the raid was to test out the new equipment and and techniques by invading the French Port of Dieppe. The 2nd division had been given the task to follow through with the attack planning to have four pre-dawn attacks along the coast and after that they planned to attack Dieppe.

The outcome was a complete failure since a Canadian ship had came into contact with a German convoy which broke out into a temporary sea battle. The noise coming from the battle had alarmed German soldiers on shore so when Canadians came on shore they were immediately machine gunned.
The battle was described as gruesome one reporter had interviewed a man involved in the battle who goes by the name of Ross Munro, “I spent the grimmest 20 minutes of my life with one unit when a rain of German machine-gun fire wounded half the men n our boat and only a miracle saved us from annihilation”describing his experience. Canadians have failed at this mission as the communication between ships and troops was crude. On top of that the had arrived at the scene during the day time. Citizens question if this was a learning experience of an act of pure stupidity, and one only looks at them at disappointment. As of now citizens hope that we only advance in this war.

D-Day Invasion

The Allies dispatched "Operation Overload", which was an attempt to invade Europe. The Allies did not want a repeat of the failure that took place in Dieppe. To prevent this, the Allies had rehearsed the plan of Operation Overload and had it all precisely planned out. The Allies had put their attack on five particular beaches. It has been reported that those beaches all had code names of the following: Sword, Juno, Gold, Omaha, and Utah. Because of the Allies' rehersals, they had the capability of fracturing the lines of communication and transportation by dropping soldiers who were trained to parachute from airplanes onto combat areas. These paratroopers were dropped behind bombing targets and enemy lines on the beaches. The soldiers fought in bravery on foot, but they also had an abundant amount of naval support, which allowed the Allies to obtain more troops. Equally important, they also had the privilege of gaining more military vehicles and supplies.

If that wasn't successful enough, the Allies were even more successful since no one else was aware of this invasion. The Allies had an innate capacity of keeping Operation Overload secluded from the Germans. It was heard that the Germans had reckoned that they would get attacked from the north. To say that the Allies had luck is an understatement. Due to a storm, it deferred the leading attack. Overall, the D-Day invasion proved to distinguish how the German defence was not coordinated in a potent manner and that the Allies did a dexterous job at their arrangement of the invasion.

Dropping of Atomic Bombs

May 8th and Allies declared their win in the war, though it isn't fully over yet. On August 6th, 1945
the Americans dropped an heavy atomic bomb on the Japanese city called Hiroshima, the name of the pilot who had dropped it is referred to as Enola Gay. It was said that Canada had contributed to this disaster as Canadians provided Uranium for the development of the atomic bomb. The plan being top secret had a code name “Manhattan Project”.

Canadian government did not even ask for consent or verify citizens about this project while it was being secretly developed in the Eldorado's mine. Three day after this attack of an atomic bomb the city of Nagasaki was bombed as well. American had said that it was only so the Japanese would surrender from the war, since they disagreed to do so Americans felt provoked to do something. Japanese declared they would “fight to the last person” even though thousands of civilians were being killed. All this controversy resulted in the atomic bombings. Within the two bombing it is estimated 100 000 people were killed and 100 000 were injured. The Japanese will not only face short term effects but also effects like caner will come into play in their lives. Americans proved their horrifying and finally on August 14th the Japanese have decided to surrender. One can subsequently sleep at night knowing that the war has definitely been completely abolished.

Holocaust

One of the most disturbing and barbaric genocides of all time would have to be the Holocaust of 1941 done by the Nazi government. Leader of Germany, Adolf Hitler, was so passionate about his anti-Semitic and racist views that he ordered all Jewish people and whoever he didn't think was the ideal human being, which in his eyes, was blonde with blue eyes, they were all sent to concentration camps. Camps that usually isloated the Jewish people and "undesirables" to locations, such as Bergen-Belsen and Buchenwald in Germany. Matters got worse, because as soon as the victims arrived to those areas, they were immediately stripped down out of their clothes and were all forced to shave their heads. Thus everyone looked the same and at the time, everyone probably also felt the same, useless. They lost themselves as persons, because they also lost their loved ones as they were separated from their families. However, it did not stop at that. The terror went on as the young, the old, and the weak were instantaneously annihilated in gas chambers. Though if you were healthy, it didn't differ that much from getting killed. The healthy worked as slave labourers, but they were murdered as soon as they had a disease due to overworking and starvation. A report of more than six million Jewish people and another five million Roma, Slavs, and other "undesirables" were exterminated by the Germans by 1945. This was a monumental loss and will be unforgettable. It is true that the Allies were well conscious about the Holocaust, but they weren't fully aware of the enormity and nefariousness that took place. Till this day, there are an immense amount of people out there, namely Jewish people who will never
forgive the Germans. Consequently, till this day, there are still Germans out there who distastefully deny that the Holocaust even happened.

National Resources Mobilization Act

Canada declared war in 1939, there would be no conscription. Several Canadians felt as though little was being done with the war effort, so they had a requisition that the Canadian government should be compelled to do more. Thus the National Resources Mobilization Act was made known by Mackenzie King's government. The NRMA subsidized the government aptitude to snag the resources of the nation. That was prosperous in pleasing Canadian citizens, but more importantly, the act authorized conscription, which in this case, was of an even more ameliorating disclosure.



1942 Plebiscite and Conscription

 Controversy over Conscription amidst Quebec and the Prime minister Mackenzie has disembarked. Quebecois have been in opposition to King Mackenzie's view on conscription ever since the First World War. On April 27^th, 1942 King had held a plebiscite, a vote on a particular issue, in order to take Canada's perspective of conscription into recognition. The result of the vote has been a win for “yes” for winning the majority of votes. The Quebec feel deceived by King as he is now allowing conscription overseas service. In return of the censure Montreal citizens are holding riots to protest against the King's declaration. Mackenzie will not be able to avoid the issue of conscription any longer so citizens shall wait and see for his next act taken.
